The American Women's Association is an organization maintained and established especially for YOU, the AWA member. The AWA has been in existence in Indonesia for over 60 years. First established in the 1950s, our membership remains strong in numbers. AWA has grown into a vibrant organization that connects women with a supportive network of fellow expatriates, cultural experiences, charitable works, and, of course, a variety of fun activities. We are proud to serve the diverse expat community, and we welcome newcomers of every nationality.
AWA exists to conduct activities of interest to citizens of the United States and others residing in Indonesia, to foster fellowship among its members, to further interest in Indonesian cultural activities, and to give financial assistance to social welfare and and socioeconomic projects in our community.
Through the Social Welfare Committee, AWA supports many different community projects each year. Funds are typically raised through our social and special events and parties, along with our Spring and Fall Bazaars. AWA also raises funds through the sale of its many different publications, including the indispensable Jakarta Shopper's Guide, Introducing Indonesia, and Words and Phrases. All of these books are chockfull of insightful information to help you settle into your new home in Jakarta.
